How To Practice Guitar

To begin to understand how to practice the guitar for maximum benefit you must first understand what practicing is. To practice the guitar is not the same as sitting down and playing the guitar. While replaying things you already have down has its place later on in the practicing regimen, practice is truly learning some new material to further bring in any(a) skills you have already.

However, what if you are a new beginner to the world of playing the guitar? Where do you start if you know nothing? There are several basics that all new players must develop before they can move on to learning and perfecting sounds or songs. They are:

-Toughening your fingers. The strings on a guitar can be very sharp and can cause pain to tender fingers that have never been exposed to the insistence needed to apply to a guitar string. So workings your fingers into a calloused state where the playing of anything is no longer painful is essential to beginning guitar players.

-Start to work your fingers and build your knowledge base of the guitar by starting with learning individual notes. Once the basic notes are understood, you can move on to more complicated combinations and new sounds.

-Having well-read the individual notes will lead you directly into learning the chords and structures used when playing the guitar in a more forward-looking way. Chords tend to be the starting block for most songs out there and thus must be learned for application in differing musics.

-Developing your sense of beat or rhythm is of course essential to anyone who strives to learn a musical instrument. You have to be able to mark a beat and carry it steadily as tempos change and a song progresses.
-Learning your frets goes hand-in-hand with this and is important to chord learning as well as to song learning. You need to understand your instrument to best use it to your benefit to commence the music you desire to play.

-And of course there are different strumming methods to be learned so as to be able to effectively use them as they are called for in any formalised music. As tempos and beats speed up and slow down, different strumming methods are compulsory and you must learn them in preparation for when they will be called into use.

Once you have begun to learn the basics in using a guitar to make music, it is often advised that a beginner look into getting a tutor. In doing this, you expose yourself to someone who is much more efficient when it comes to using the guitar and who has developed a philosophy of the music he or she creates. This is why it is important to learn a lot about a tutor you may want to hire before you begin to actually work with him or her as you want to make sure that their philosophy is as close to your own as possible, thus creating the most contributing(a) learning environment for yourself. Philosophy is crucial in your approach to making music on the guitar and must work as well for you as it does for your tutor.

Once you have hired a tutor you are comfortable with, you will most likely be exposed to learning to read music. This may seem daunting at first but it will help you immensely as you continue your pursuit of learning the guitar as you progress to more difficult pieces and more advanced playing situations. Also, you will expected be exposed to learning the theories butt playing the guitar and behind playing music in general, all of which will only add to your ability to play more effectively as you begin to understand music more completely.

You will also be presented with a practice plan and it is important to arrive at that setting goals for a single session is not as productive as setting your plan for a week. Practice times are not to be etched in stone and a definite number of hours and transactions is only detrimental to the learning forge. You must be dedicated enough to put in appropriate amount of time but also you must feel the music as you play, and not be distracted by clock-watching.

It is important to remember that while you may have a tutor you are paid? to guide you on your exploration with the guitar, it is still necessary for you to find time to experimentation and explore different ways to play. Once you have learned a few easy songs, repeating them as is does little to expand your learning . . . but trying them in a different key or improvising with them to add new sounds to the buffer song does, and you should find time to experiment with your growing knowledge base in your practice sessions.

Listening to a variety of different styles of music is important as you begin to play music yourself. It allows you to see a variety of ways the information you are learning is being used by professionals and semi-professionals some the world. This can also revolutionise you to try something new in your experimentations that possibly you never would have contemplated before if you had not listened to differing styles of music. Soon you will begin to be able to pick out changes in chords, musical patterns, tempo, and strumming styles and distinguish where they began and where they ended up.

It is also so very important to always remember as you begin your desire to practice and learn the guitar for the maximum benefit that the art of learning the guitar is not a race. Everyone will learn at their own pace, and it is not a dead-heat to the finish line. Take your time and learn every step of the way to your satisfaction and the music you end up producing will be the most satisfying sounds you ever heard emitted from the guitar you are so patiently learning to play. Practice is important if you want to learn anything but specially so in the guitar as it is much more complex an instrument to master than others.

Royal Ascot Horse Racing 2010 Event Details

History of Royal Ascot and the Grandstand:
It was Queen Anne who first saw the potential for a racecourse at Ascot, which in those days was called East Cote. Whilst out riding in 1711, she came upon an area of open heath, not far from Windsor Castle, that looked an ideal place for “horses to gallop at full stretch.”

The first race meeting ever held at Ascot took place on Saturday 11 August 1711. Her Majesty’s Plate, worth 100 guineas and open to any horse, mare or gelding over the age of six, was the inaugural event. Each horse was required to carry a weight of 12st and seven runners took part.

Today the tradition does not change – the Queen Anne Stakes continues to be run in memory of the monarch who founded the course nearly three centuries ago. The original Ascot racecourse was laid out by William Lowen, who was assisted by a team of helpers, William Erlybrown, a carpenter, Benjamin Cluchett, a painter, and John Grape, who prepared the paper work for racing.

The first permanent building on the course was constructed in about 1794 by George Slingsby, a Windsor builder. It held 1,650 people and was used until 1838. Today's Royal Ascot grandstand was completed in 2006 following a two year £200 million redevelopment. The official opening of the new grandstand took place on the first day of the Royal Meeting, with an opening speech from Her Majesty The Queen, who owns the racecourse.

Through a combination of style, pomp and tradition Royal Ascot has become the most famous of all the prestigious events in the horse racing calendar. ‘Ladies Day’ is particularly notorious for the infamous hats, attracting legions of devotees each year from all over the world.

Previous Leeds Festival:

The dates for Leeds Festival 2009 had confirmed as on the bank holiday weekend, from Friday 28th to Sunday 30th August at Bramham Park, Leeds, West Yorkshire. The headliners for that year's festival were Arctic Monkeys (Friday), Radiohead (Saturday), and Kings Of Leon (Sunday). Also playing the main stage on Friday were The Prodigy, Maximo Park, Ian Brown, The Courteeners, Enter Shikari, and Eagles Of Death Metal. Saturday has Bloc Party, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Vampire Weekend, and Brand New. Sunday's line-up includes Faith No More, Kaiser Chiefs, Placebo, Fall Out Boy, Deftones, and Funeral For A Friend

Leeds Festival Offers Something For Everyone:

For as long as I've been attending Leeds festival, it as always been the highlight of the festival season, in the past line-ups have included Metallica, Iron Maiden, Oasis, Rage Against The Machine, Smashing Pumpkins, Muse, Pearl Jam, Green Day, and Guns N Roses. So being a rock music fan at heart, Leeds always satisfied my appetite for great live music.

Obviously this year was no exception to the rule, although Radiohead did seem to be a questionable choice to be headliners, after seeing them play, they should be categorised as flatliners instead.

This year Leeds festival even had a nice surprise in the form of Them Crooked Vultures - if like me you had never heard of them, it is a superband with Dave Grohl on drums, Josh Homme (QOTSA) and John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin). Now seeing them was worth the ticket price alone.

Obviously Kings Of Leon were one of the few main stage bands to get a huge crowd, and they knew how to impress their fans. Other bands which impressed on the main stage included The Prodigy, which to be honest I have never seen them ever do a bad show. The Kaiser Chiefs have still got that magic ingredient to attract vast numbers to come and watch them play live.

Overall I absolutely loved this years Leeds Festival, so I will certainly be looking forward to going next year regardless of who the headliners are, which I predict will be the Kaiser Chiefs, and Them Crooked Vultures. The only thing that will stop me going is if they decide to book those flatliners Radiohead again.

Oasis is on Tour!

Yes, it is true. Oasis has embarked on a major UK Arena Tour that will kick off in Liverpool on October 7th, the day after their latest album Dig Out Your Soul is released. Oasis will be on the road for an entire month, playing 18 shows across the U.K. This is the second leg of Oasis’ 14 month world tour.

Oasis took on the world in 1994, hailed by some as the new Beatles, taking British pop back to the top of the worldwide charts. Oasis was formed by singer and frontman Liam Gallagher, Paul Arthurs on guitar, Paul McGuigan on bass and Tony McCarroll on drums. The band was soon joined by Liam’s older brother Noel Gallagher who steppedinto the lead guitar and lead vocals shoes. Oasis have sold more than 50 million records worldwide. The band has eight UK number-one singles, 15 NME Awards, 5 Brit Awards and 9 Q awards. The Gallagher brothers are the band’s leading songwriters and the only members who have been there from the beginning. The present band includes Gem Archer and Andy Bell, as well as unofficial drummer Chris Sharrock.

Oasis harkened back to the raw revolutionary energy of the Rolling Stones and the Who fused with sweet and melodic Beatles sounds and that anarchic devil may care, destroy all to create the world anew Sex Pistol’s paradigm. With deafening guitar roars and a cheeky defiant attitude Oasis is infamous for their cocksure arrogance.

Oasis began in its conception as a band formed by schoolmates Liam Gallagher, Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs, Paul McGuigan, and Tony McCaroll. Noel Gallagher wasn’t there at the outset as he was hired as the guitar technician for a band called Inspiral Carpets which had been inspired by the Stone Roses. When Noel Gallagher returned to Manchester he found that his brother had started up a band and said that he would be a part of it if he could have total control over the group. The band agreed to Noel’s terms and Oasis was born.

Noel Gallagher’s songs reflect this fusion of rock ‘n roll influences. Gallagher reworks hits like “Cigarettes and Alcohol” and has borrowed the riff from “Bang a Gong” by T. Rex. Gallagher has also used parts of Wham’s “Fade Away” and “Freedom”, putting the hooks on different settings and tweaking the sounds.

Oasis released their first single “Supersonic” in the spring of 1994, but it was with “Shakermaker” adapted from the song “I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing” (the song featured in a famous Coca-cola advert) that the UK stood up and took notice of the band that was to become the legendary Oasis. Oasis struck black gold with first album, Definitely Maybe, which became the fastest selling debut album in British history, beating out the Beatles. Thus the beginning of Oasis mania. Let’s not forget Wonderwall. Get your Oasis tickets now before they are ancient history.

Beyonce Music

Whether you are a certified Beyonce fan or a just an admirer, there's no getting away from the fact that this is one babe with a heck of a voice! She emerged from Destiny's Child, had the requisite celebrity lifestyle and enviable solo career and now she hits the UK for a huge arena tour in 2009. Beyonce has stated her concerts schedule for UK in coming days and Beyonce concerts will be held in London, Dublin, Nottingham and Manchester.
